Take Better Pictures of Kids ~ Arlington/Mansfield Family Photographer

I was looking at some pictures I had taken of my children from last year and it struck me how sometimes they did not look quite right. Now these were just quick snapshots we did for the First Day of School so it was not like I was putting them on the Christmas card. But I still like to have good shots of my kids for all occasions, and events if possible. I'm sure some of you know how hard that is to actually accomplish. So here are three quick and easy tips you can use while photographing your little ones. Tip #1: Get down to their level. Don't stand above them and look down on them with the camera. Squat or kneel down so that you are at their eye level or a little bit below. That way they won't look distorted or shorter than they actually are. Plus this way you can included their whole body easily without cutting off shoes, if that is important.
Tip #2: Don't forget to come in close to take a picture of their winning smiles up close. It's nice to have those full body images, but also consider zooming in to just get a picture of their face. A full face picture will fill up a frame on the wall better and your subject won't seem too far away.
Tip #3: Let them be themselves. Kids are wild and fun, and trying to figure out who they are. Let them show their spirit and personality in photos of themselves. You will look back on those pictures and remember their little quirks and be great full you let them "show off."

Las Collinas ~ Family Photographer

Kacey and her family came out to Las Collinas so we could capture some new images of her family and the kids before they all grew up. She tells me it had been a long time since the last family pictures they had taken. I was very happy to help them out and capture some wonderful memories for them as well. Her kids are just too cute, and having her mom and one of her sisters there was a nice change of pace. I'm really glad that we got to spend the time making some wonderful images for them.

Las Collinas ~ Large Family Photographer

Crystal and her family joined me again for another round of family pictures. This time she included her husbands family. They were a very large group, nine (9) siblings in total, although one was not there due to being out of the country on a church mission trip. Otherwise everyone was in attendance. The boys were classic boys acting up and being silly. While the girls were a little more reserved and played nice. One of the ladies had just given birth to a beautiful new baby girl a couple of days beforehand, and she was a real trooper. I'm glad I got a chance to share some time with them, and help create some lasting memories for the family.

Grapevine ~ Family Photographer

These two families came together to take some wonderful images in Grapevine. The kids did a great job, even the toddler. I was so happy with their performance that day. Plus everyone looked great and did not mind being creative with their poses.

Arlington Classics Academy ~ Mother Son Event

This was our first year to shoot at the Mother Son Event, for ACA and I think we could have choosen a better spot to shoot in. We did have some Mom's and Son's stop by while I think all the rest were busy playing and spending great fun with each other. Next year will be much better.

Mansfield/Kennedale Family Photographer

The Bickle family joined me out by the red barn for a session that way lots of fun and had everyone laughing. I just love the setting at the red barn because there are some many different places you set up to do pictures. Which works great for family sessions, or even seniors. Here are some hightlights from their session.
